Candle Care

Safety & Care

BEFORE BURNING

  • Remove all packaging before lighting.
  • Place on a stable, protected, heat-resistant, dry surface. This will also help prevent possible heat damage to counters, table surfaces, and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking.
  • Trim the wick before the first burn, and every time you re-light the candle. When trimming the wick, you should always let the candle come to room temperature and extinguish the flame. Always trim the wick down to 1/4 inch for best burn
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, or any combustible material. Keep the wick centered.
  • Avoid burning candles in drafts.
  • Please handle glass containers with care. Do not use if the jar is cracked.

WHILE BURNING

  • Never touch or move a burning candle. Never move a candle container when the wax is liquified.
  • Do not allow the flame to touch the side of the jar. The jar may become hot. Handle carefully.
  • It is suggested to trim the wick every 4 hours of burn time. Trim the wick down to 1/4in.
  • Never leave burning candles unattended. Always keep them within sight. If you are going to leave the room or go to bed, be sure to extinguish all candles first.
  • Never burn a candle all the way down. Discontinue use when 1/2" of wax remains at the bottom of the jar.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
  • Burn for no longer than 2-3 hours at a time
  • If burning multiple candles, place each at least 3 inches apart to ensure they don’t melt each other or create their own drafts
  • Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Before re-lighting, let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for unwanted drafts.
  • Use extra caution when burning candles during a power outage. Battery-powered lights like flashlights are much safer sources of light during a power failure.
  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Do not place lit candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else.
  • Never place the lid on the jar when the candle is burning.
  • Please ventilate sufficiently.

WHEN EXTINGUISHING

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle, if available, as it’s the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering.
  • Do not use water to extinguish a candle, this can cause the hot wax to splatter and could break a glass container.
  • Before leaving the room, make sure your candle is completely out and there is no glow coming from the wick ember. Do not touch or move the candle until it has completely cooled.

Note: Use candles at own risk. We are not responsible for any misuse of the candle.

Hi! I am Traci Waller, founder of Waller Creatives. I am so excited you are here.
I have had a creative spirit for as long as I can remember. Creating with my hands has
always helped to pass the time, keep me centered, and really just kept me out of the trouble that I am so good at finding!

I am based in Missouri, in the Heartland of America. I share my life with the most supportive husband ever, and our blended family consists of 3 kids and more animals than could fit in this description.

Waller Creatives is a small business which encompasses BrownSugahBaby by Traci
(custom gifts) and ilaorun by Waller Creatives (candle, bath, body, and home)
BrownSugahBaby was my first venture into the creative world, 7 years ago, starting with a
cottage law bakery that specialized in custom cakes and candy apples.  Brown Sugah was
my childhood nickname, so it just made sense that would be the name of my bakery.

As more tiny humans were added to the family, it became too heavy of a load to continue
the bakery, but I still craved something to do with my hands and use my creative brain. I
still bake for family and friends, but BrownSugahBaby by Traci re-directed its efforts to
creating custom gifts, tees, and party treats.  Now known as BrownSugahBaby by Waller
Creatives, I now focus solely on customized items, such as tees, shoes, cups and jewelry.
Ilaorun by Waller Creatives is the name of my candle and body care line.  My main
purpose for this line was initially to create products that I could use myself. I have CRAZY
allergies, and there is very little that I can use in my home, or put on my skin, that does not
cause some sort of skin irritation, or send me into days of allergy attacks where I’d be stuck to inhalers, allergy meds, and pretty much home bound.

Ilaorun is born out of a need to create alternatives, and well designed, naturally healthy
candles and body products that allow me to not only smell and feel good, but to live well!

Ilaorun is Yoruba for sunrise.  I wanted to incorporate my Nigerian ancestry into my
business, and the region in Nigeria that my DNA leads to speaks Yoruba.  Sunrise seemed a
fitting name for the beauty that I create.
